This Kay Nielsen Nordic folklore poster comes from a story called The Three Princesses in the Blue Mountain. You can read it in the 1914 book East of the Sun and West of the Moon, a book of Nordic tales collected by Asbjornsen and Moe and illustrated by Kay Nielsen.
The caption under the original book illustration reads: "Just as they bent down to take the rose a big dense snowdrift came and carried them away ..." And they end up imprisoned by a three-headed troll! How are those princesses going to get out of this one?
Your Kay Nielsen folklore print measures 8" X 10".
